Inspect NAU
Like its name suggests, Inspect Nau is an app for the merchant navy that enables officers to efficiently document ship inspections. I redesigned the entire app to make it both intuitive and aesthetically pleasing, ensuring that users could easily navigate and understand each function while enhancing the visual appeal.
Year:
2024
Duration:
15 days
Deliverables and Tools:
Mobile App - Figma
Target Audience
Merchant Navy officers and crew members who carry out the inspection.
Maritime supervisors, compliance officers, and fleet managers who rely on accurate inspection data to maintain safety standards, track maintenance needs, and comply with regulations.
Challenges faced
Since the UI content involved technical navy terms and complex inspection criteria, I needed to conduct extensive initial research to understand the process thoroughly. This research was essential to grasp how inspections are carried out, which criteria are prioritized, and how to make the interface both functional and accessible for users familiar with maritime language.
Homepage
I designed three versions of the homepage to address different inspection stages:
Tutorial Stage – Appears when no inspections have been completed; this page offers a tutorial guiding users through the app's features.
Previous Inspections Stage – Shows when there are completed inspections but no active ones, allowing users to review past inspections.
Active Inspection Stage – Visible when there’s an ongoing inspection, providing a focused interface for real-time updates and input.
